Strangulation Response, Investigation and Prosecution Training
Virtual Course
Non-fatal strangulation has been identified as a key indicator for risk of lethality in domestic violence cases. This advanced course offers an in-depth and multidisciplinary approach to these types of assaults. This virtual course is designed for law enforcement, prosecution, advocacy, and medical professionals.
The core objectives of this advanced two-day course:
- Identify key factors in the lethality of strangulation
- Describe the anatomy, physiology, and signs and symptoms of strangulation in fatal and non-fatal cases
- Improve documentation of strangulation cases in the context of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and child abuse
- Discuss best-practices in trauma-informed advocacy, interviewing, prosecution, and/or patient/case management
- Develop local experts to use in trial
